Today I went to see "UP", the latest of Pixar's productions, with my friends. I won't spoil the whole movie for you but aside from WALL-E, this is probably one of the only movies I would really recommend from PIXAR. The story develops from the affection between Carl Frederickson, the main character, and his wife Ellie. Carl and Ellie had both dreamed of living next to Paradise Falls, their dream home in South America. Throughout Ellie's life, she had kept a scrapbook titled "My Adventure Book". The pages at the end of the book were reserved for her adventures after she arrives at her paradise. After Ellie's death, Carl drifts away by tying a mass of balloons atop of his house, hoping to accomplish Ellie's lifelong dream. Although his trip becomes a success, Carl isn't all that happy because he feels bitterly lonely without Ellie. Carl rereads Ellie's scrapbook and discovers that Ellie had filled all the blank pages with photos of the all the memorable times that had together throughout their marriage.

The movie made me ponder over how many of us live our lives today. Often, people focus only only accomplishing their dreams and puts their utmost efforts into doing so. However, they become so focused that they neglect all the fun and special moments in their lives. We should ask ourselves, if money, material, and reputation are comparable with the few opportunities we have to live happily.
